Well, I got it! I got the job I was interviewed for today! WHOO HOO! So, barring any unforeseen issues with my background check, I start work on Monday, September 17 at 7:00 am. My job title is "Material Handler" and I'll be working in the warehouse. The interviewer asked me again today if I would be interested in getting my forklift certification and I very promptly said, "Oh, yeah!" My enthusiasm for getting certified seemed to go over very well with the interviewer and she promised me it wouldn't be long before I would be offered the training. Getting that certification would increase my pay about $1.75/hour which is a great incentive in itself, but getting my forklift license has been one of my goals for some time now. I just never could get things to line up for me to get it. If I had the money, I didn't have the time, and when I had the time, I didn't have the money! Now, I'll get the training paid for, plus get paid for taking it! Bonus!
The company seems to be a good one to work for. From what I've read so far in the half-inch thick Employees Handbook, the company seems to value its employees very highly. They have a great benefit package, a profit sharing plan, generous (by Canadian standards, at least) vacation time and an number of other "side benefits". As much as I'm apprehensive of how my recently injured shoulder will stand up to the demands of the job, I'm hoping that I can at least last a year there, to take advantage of all the perks! I still want to be a truck driver someday, but at least this will be steady income, which will be a pleasant change from the last 4 years of my working life!

Flake - the company name is Synnex. They sell electronics (computers, printers, TVs, stereos, etc.) to places like Future Shop, Best Buy, et al.
